Create Manual Test Cases Using MTM -Part 1

In previous posts we install and configure test agent and controllers, now it’s time to start the real tasks and create test cases then apply manual test. In this series posts i will go throw step by step to create test plan and and configuration for my test plan and then apply manual testing and view the results, later i will automate those test cases to part of regression library.

Starting for this posts i will start use a Virtual machine provided by Microsoft to to all Labs, all users can download it and install to implement sample and it has a very good example and manuals to use team foundation server 2012, refer to this link to download it. Continue reading

Setup and Configure LAB Center for Automation Testing Using MTM -Part 2

In previous post i gave an introduction to MTM 2010, creating test plan and test suite.
In this post i will show step by step how to configure LAB center to run automated tests using MTM.
To run automated tests using MTM first you have to setup  Test Agent and Test Controller.

It’s better to install the test controller on separate virtual machine or you can install it in same TFS server machine, in this demo i will install the controller in TFS server machine. Continue reading

Getting Started with Microsoft Test Manager 2010 – Part 1

It’s really a great effort from Microsoft when they introduced a separated IDE for testing. Testers now can create their own test cases, test scenarios, test scripts, test plans, test configurations and perform a manual/automated tests using the testing IDE called Microsoft Test Manager (MTM).

MTM IDE is available when you install VS 2010 Test Professional or Ultimate edition. You can download the trial version of Visual Studio Test Professional from here:

MTM is fully integrated with team foundation server 2010, you can integrate a test plan with your development plan as a part of Application Life cycle Management (ALM) to have a full life cycle of software development. Continue reading
